I'm Taj Kandula-Scott, and (as you've probably guessed!), I am a fully qualified Personal Trainer. I am based in Leamington Spa, in Warwickshire, and train clients both face to face, and online.
I started U – Kandu Fitness because I believe your most valuable possession is not a size zero body or 6 pack abs, but a rock solid sense of self-esteem that does not depend on the approval of others. It is a deep connection to your true Self, an understanding of who you are, of how you work, and of what you need. The most valuable thing you can do for yourself is to dedicate yourself to understanding how YOU work, of what you really want, and, most importantly, of what makes you feel good. Truly good. There is so much to say on this; but I will keep it short: the media is full of rubbish DESIGNED to make you feel bad about yourself to SELL things to you. It is full of rubbish designed to make you feel that you are not enough, so that you will buy things to match the ridiculous ideals that the media is bombarding you with every day.
It's horrible. And I want to change it. I want you to feel love for yourself again. To be connected, to give yourself time and space to find yourself, and build your relationship with your body in a way that truly works for you.
Through our work together, my goal is to help you to find a true connection to yourself, so that you can go forward with an authentic connection to your body. When you have that, things become easier; I want to guide you so that you can listen to your body, respect it's rhythms and patterns, and, most of all, ENJOY it!
My Journey
As a teenager and young adult, I felt ugly and low about myself.
I just didn't look the way I was supposed to look according to the expectations of our image-obsessed world.
Every time I looked in the mirror, I felt disappointment. I wanted to be someone else. I wanted to hide from the world, and did everything I could do to make that happen. I was terribly unhappy.
Then, after years of soul searching and exploration, something happened. I realised it is ok being me, exactly as I am. In fact, it's more than ok being me: being me is the best thing possible.
By reconnecting with my body, I had rediscovered my confidence. It was hard work, undoing old ways of looking at myself and developing a new relationship with my body, but I was stunned by the liberation that I experienced when I freed myself of old habits both of body and mind, and am realising my potential every day. The journey is never over; I am changing every day, examining how I am treating my body, and the choices that I am making in my daily life. I am proud that I give my wellbeing the time and energy it deserves; as the years go on, I feel that I have got my priorities straight 🙂
Now I am excited to share my discoveries, and to help you to experience the joy of building a truly authentic, nurturing relationship with your body too.
